GES dismisses 8 SHS students for insulting AKufo-Addo

The Ghana Education Service says the behaviour of the students contradicts “acceptable standards of conduct” expected of Ghanaian students.

Eight students of the Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region have been dismissed for “insulting” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The decision by the Ghana Education Service (GES) comes weeks after the students were placed under suspension for their action.

The Service noted that its investigation into the incident has confirmed the students used “unsavoury language” against the nation’s President, an act it described as “very undesirable.”

This behaviour of the students runs counter to the “acceptable standards of the conduct generally required of any student in Ghana’s educational system.”
